About CCP

What is Contemporary Psychotherapy?

The word “con-tempo-rary” means literally “with time” or “moving in time”. As discussed more fully in our formal definition, this can indicate a number of the defining features of Contemporary Psychotherapy:

  • it is aware of and responds to current advances in its own and other fields of knowledge;
  • it is sensitive to current sociological, cultural and political issues;
  • it works with the full life trajectory – past, present and future – of the client;
  • it responds flexibly to different stages and cycles in the client’s progress;
  • it utilises the naturally occuring cycles and altered states of the human system;
  • it recognises the differing time requirements and time constraints affecting the treatment of each client.

What is the CCP?

The Community for Contemporary Psychotherapy (CCP) is the official membership organisation for students and graduates of the BeeLeaf Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy.

All BeeLeaf students are automatically Student Members of CCP. All graduates of BeeLeaf Training may apply for further membership of CCP, according to the appropriate category of membership. Full details of membership categories are in our membership regulations.

CCP is controlled by a Committee in accordance with our constitution. Contact details for Committee members are on our Contact page.

What does the CCP offer?

For both members and non-members our site offers a range of resources for psychotherapeutic development and practice, including:

  • current and past copies of our newsletter plus various contributions from members (on our Resources page);
  • details of therapy, training and other services offered by members (on our Services page).

For members of CCP there are important additional benefits of membership (detailed on our Community page and Events listing), including:

  • a Yahoo! Groups email discussion list where we share information and ideas on many subjects;
  • regular practice groups, occasional social events, and information about training opportunities;
  • a pathway towards accreditation with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) through completion of the Advanced Diploma programme.

How can CCP members use this site?

If you are a member of the CCP, you have access to two separate (though related) channels for communicating with other members and finding out what’s going on:

  • the ccpmembers e-group mentioned above, which lets you communicate with other members via email;
  • the various pages of this CCP website, particularly the Community page, which is for members only.

If you are a member of the CCP and you don’t already know the password for access to the Community page, please email mike@wider-mind.com. On the Community page you’ll find full instructions on how to join the email discussion group.

If you’re sure you are entering the correct password for the Community page (remember it’s case-sensitive!), and it’s not being accepted, you may need to adjust your browser’s cookie setting. This is probably under Tools, (Internet) Options, Privacy. Try setting your browser to accept all cookies, and if this allows you to access the Community page you can then go back to the original privacy setting.

Do remember to use the rest of the site too, particularly the Event Calendar; visit the Latest news topic for more about this!
